What's On

Thank you!
The refreshment tent at the Heavy Horse Event in August at Higher Biddacott raised £1017 towards the St. Hieritha Church Roof Fund. Thank you so much for all our helpers, those who donated cakes, scones and non-food items, the response to our plea for food was absolutely incredible. We would like to especially thank Fiona, Jonathan and Tiggy for giving us the opportunity to have our refreshment tent at their event to raise money for the church.

6th September - Chittlahamholt Drop In Lunch all welcome, for more information please contact Anne on 540389.
9th September - 9.00 The ‘Welcome’ Prayer Breakfast meets in the Welcome Cafè South Molton - all welcome.
27th September - Chittlehamholt Ladies Group recommences 1.30 - 3.30 pm.

October Prayer Service - Advance Notice
In the belief that we should explore different forms of worship the prayer service for October will be
presented a different format.
It will be a service of Celtic Liturgy in the Northumberland tradition, containing periods of silent
contemplative prayer, open prayer and joint worship.
Come and explore your faith in fellowship with others on the 8th October in Chittlehampton Church at 6:30pm. Ray Stacey

The Church of St. Hieritha, Chittlehampton
invite you to join us for our
‘Silver Service’
on Sunday 24th September 2017
at 16.30
in the Methodist Schoolroom
Come for a natter over a cup of tea or coffee and a selection of cakes! Afterwards we will join together to sing a couple of hymns and have a ‘thought for the day’. We would love to have your company and please feel free to bring along a friend or neighbour too.

As we come towards the end of our studies in Paul's letter to the Ephesians at Umberleigh, we meet
Paul's friend, Tychicus. Paul describes him as 'a dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord'. Given that
there were no emails or Skype in those days, he was willing to be sent on a tedious and perhaps
dangerous journey to tell the Ephesians about how Paul was getting on in his work, and to encourage
them to keep going in their difficult situation.
This makes us ask ourselves if we, too, can be relied on to be kind and faithful supporters of each other,
and to inconvenience ourselves as we make it a priority to pray for and to encourage Christians both
locally and further away.

Have you ever thought you would like to get involved with a local charitable organisation but not sure what is involved or indeed what you might like to do?

Our clients rely on small acts of kindness from people just like you to enable them to carry out daily tasks that many of us take for granted, e.g. shopping, social events or healthcare appointments.

Our core services are:
Ring & Ride (Shopping Bus)
Shopmobility (scooters and wheelchairs)
Out & About Club (social event day/half day trips)

There are different ways in which you can help:
The gift of time - please tell us how you would like to help. We will do our best to match your enthusiasm, skills and ideas to the various voluntary roles and projects we have that will help to protect our core services.

The gift of money - your money will be used locally, for local people, to help provide local services for the local community. This doesn't have to be a huge sum and perhaps you would consider making a donation to Go North Devon in lieu of sending Christmas cards to friends and family this year?

We are keen to hear from individuals; families, couples and community group leaders who would like to put something back into the community but are wary of committing themselves on a regular or permanent basis. We understand and recognise this concern and would therefore like to hear what you would like to offer.....no pressure to do more!

We have Friends who help out once every couple of months for a couple of hours due their own busy schedules and others who assist us on a more regular weekly basis.....the choice is yours!

To find out how to get involved with the Friends of Go North Devon please get in touch with Christine or Sharon at The Shopmobility Centre, Albert Lane, Barnstaple EX32 8RL
 or call 01271 328866

Look there's a rainbow
High in the sky,
A beautiful rainbow
To gladden the eye.
That wonderful arch
Brings hope to mankind,
Easing our troubles
And cares of the mind.
So look for the rainbow
And never despair,
For while there's a rainbow
We know God is there.
