Attending a wedding at an *extremely* close venue, then visiting friends in the area. Stayed five nights, three in a room in the main building, the last two in one of the cottages. The room was fine, no problems there, then the cottage was just sensational. Immaculately clean, spacious and comfortable. My local friends and I returned to eat in the hotel/pub on no less than three further occasions.
I join with my fellow TripAdvisor contributors to thank proprietors Dee and Andy. The review title says it all.

We decided to take a 5 day "taster" mini break in North Devon, on the recommendation of a friend - who suggested the Portsmouth Arms. The cottage was ideal - beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Andy and Dee were the perfect hosts. The meals (breakfast and evening) were substantial and delicious. Although we were strangers, Andy, Dee and the regulars made us feel welcome from the minute we walked through the door. Very memorable - we will be back !

We consistently win awards for our beautiful 18th century Manor, our restaurant and as a much-loved holiday 'hidey-hole'. With plenty of space in which to roam, an intriguing walled ‘Secret Garden’, fragrant apple orchards and a Japanese water garden; all of which can be enjoyed whilst savouring a delicious Devon cream tea on the patio! We've created an air of relaxed, quiet sophistication in all 16 of our individual rooms, with thoughtful little touches of crisp red apples, mints and home-made shortbreads, as well as luxury toiletries in your en-suite. If you need to take a step away from the hectic side of life; to sit back and let the world just pass you by for a while, our peaceful, relaxed haven of tranquillity will have you ‘unwound’ in no time at all, but there’s plenty going on in and around the Manor, so you won’t feel isolated.

The quality of our truly ‘seasonal’ restaurant is maintained by a team committed to bringing to your table only the very finest and freshest.  Our focus is to excite and tantalize your taste buds with the very best that Devon can offer in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. There is plenty to see and take part in, within our beautiful corner of Devon, and Northcote Manor is within easy reach of most attractions.  Please take a look at some of our suggestions here.

It's difficult to imagine a lovelier spot in which to celebrate the most important day of your life?  Our Exclusive Wedding Package ensures you have our full attention and our dedicated, professional team will ensure you and your guests enjoy the happiest and most memorable celebration!

We're dog-friendly too!
No need to fret over dog kennels whilst you're away; you can bring your canine family members along with you too!  We have a number of bedrooms in which we can accommodate your 'fav pooches' for a holiday, and as long as they're accompanied by well-behaved humans, they're also welcome to join you for a drink in the Bar and The Oakroom!  Just like you, they'll 'lap-up' the pleasures of staying in a beautiful country retreat, enjoying doggy bowls with complimentary biscuits to add real value to their stay.  Absolutely woof-derful!
